The Saints cancelled their afternoon practicee, so only one practice today for the Saints. Everyone was on the field today for the defense except for defensive end Bobby McCray, and defensive tackles Brian Young and James Reed. Young and McCray should be ready to go tomorrow, according to Coach Payton. Reed has been put on the injured list with a torn achilles.
The Saints had full tackling drills in this mornings session. Some of the notable plays on defense included, linebacker Jonathan Vilma picking off a pass from Mark Brunell. Rookie corner Tracy Porter had a good day. He almost had an interception, after knocking down a pass, and a couple of plays later tackling Aaron Stecker in the backfield. Safety Chris Reis had an interception in the 7-on7 drills.
Rookie defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis says he's comfortable and has looked good taking reps with the first team. With all the emphasis being put on stopping the run, Ellis said he's confident the team has the personnel to do well against the run.
Monday's afternoon practice has been changed to 3:00 pm. FOX 40 will be back with more live updates when the first practice begins at 8:50 am.
