Welcome back to FOX 40's Coverage of the Saints Training Camp in Jackson. Due to weather conditions practice began a little later than the 3pm start time, but it also allowed them to utilize the turf field at the stadium for only the second time during camp.
4:10 PM Sedrick Ellis is here, finally! The rookie defense tackle is making his traning camp debut this afternoon. He just took the field for the first time during walk-thrus with the third-team defense (which is not a surprise considering he's missed 12 practices during his holdout)
4:22 PM The team is on the turf stretching after just going doing walk-thrus. There is still a very large amount of fans out here to watch practice even though it is very humid out here.
4:25 PM CB Mike McKenzie and CB Tracy Porter are both sitting out today's session.
4:41 PM The CBs and WRs are lining up for one-on-one drills. So far so good... the DBs have started out for three-for-three, but that won't last long.
4:48 Some of the players seem a little sluggish this afternoon. CB Usama Young seems to be visibly disappointed after the one-on-ones. He's had a couple of really great sessions where he stood out to the coaching staff as someone to keep an eye on.
5:03 The special teams unit is back on the field now.
5:48 pm Sorry for the lack of post s but I had some technical difficulties. The guys are doing sprints right now and practice is about to end, so I'll sum up the performance of the person you really care about: Sedrick Ellis. Nothing spectacular from the rookie. Ellis moves well considering he's 307lbs. But I'll just quote one devoted Saints fan who I asked about his play. "He's a little rough around the edges." Ellis is going to have to catch up quick.
I'll be back with a wrap up after the more after the presser.
