ENTERPRISE LINCOLN YELLOW JACKETS
Class 2-A, Region 6
2007 Record: 2-8 overall, 0-6 in district
Key Losses: RB M.T. Martin, OL Ky Mathas, OL Trey Boyd
Head Coach: Wayne Rogers (entering 1st season)
Coach's 2008 Outlook:
Enterprise Offense: With his first season at the helm of the Yellow Jackets, Coach Rogers will rely on running back Deon Pendleton to run his version of the Wing T offense. Pendleton was a top running back for the team last season as he rushed for several touchdowns. Cody Brister will have control of the offense from the quarterback position, while Trent Herrington will open up the deep-passing game from his split end position. At 215 lbs, Travis Leggett provides stability along the offensive line.
Enterprise Defense: Coach Rogers' crew will try to stop opposing offenses this season using the base 4-3 defense. The base defense will be lead by Leggett, a junior, from his linebacker spot. Leggett will have help from fellow linebackers Josh Nations and Taylor Allen in forcing turnovers by the opponents.
Enterprise Notable Games: The Yellow Jackets will try to get off on the right foot again this season as they look to extend their winning streak over West Lincoln, a team they beat in last season's opener as well. After facing West Lincoln, the schedule will only get tougher when games against Wesson and Loyd Star are played later in the season.
Coach's Key To Victory: For Coach Rogers and the Yellow Jackets, the team can have a successful season with solid offensive line play. A solid line will allow quarterback Cody Brister the time to throw the ball with more precision this season. On the defensive side of the ball, the Yellow Jackets must play aggressively and with more mental awareness to defeat their opposition. Of course, it does not hurt if the team can win the turnover battle.
