Fox 40 News has learned the Jackson Mayor Frank Melton is still at St. Dominics Hospital for undisclosed health issues. According to a city spokesperson Melton is likely to remain in the hospital for at least another night.

Fox 40 News has also discovered that Melton's wife has travelled to Jackson to be with the mayor. According to a court document the mayor is in end stage cardiomyopathy and his cardiologist has recommended a heart transplant, but Melton does not want one.

Jackson Mayor Frank Melton is in the hospital again. Fox 40 News has learned the mayor checked himself into Saint Dominic's Saturday afternoon and stayed overnight.

City of Jackson spokeswoman Goldia Revies would not confirm if the mayor's heart problems caused this latest hospital visit. It comes after U.S. District Judge Dan Jordan delayed Melton's upcoming federal trial because of his heart trouble.

Melton faces trial February 2nd for his role in destroying a Jackson home two years ago. In the judge's order, Dan Jordan said the recurrence of the heart failure Melton experienced would adversely affect his health and could result in a mistrial.

The order also specifies what the mayor should do regarding his health that includes cardiac rehab and taking his medications as prescribed. In early 2007, Melton underwent heart bypass surgery. In early 2008, Melton had a heart defribulator implanted. In mid-November he was hospitalized and had minor surgery, but returned to work shortly after.
